LICENSES (FREE OR PRO)
- check out (or read) carefully the contract (Terms and Conditions)
- any licenses are giving rights and all are comings with limitations :
- those limitations could be :
- usages limitations (commercial, education, private etc.),
- attribution (you have to mention and link author or website)
- restrictions on the sales category (goods prohibited)
- limits on the downloadable quality
- time limits (validity dates)
- geographic restrictions (countries, zones or states)
- prints limits (views)
- commercial limitations (reuse for clients, etc)
- editing limits ( text, mentions, modifications)
- tracking links or watermark
- no giveaway
- and others
.
COPYRIGHT
- copyright varies from country to country, from one type of work to another (video, photo, drawing, etc.)
- but the author retain absolute, total and permanent power *; for example the author or even the person on the pic can decide to refuse the use of his image if the product, the service or the idea does not please him (which is easy to understand for example for the sale of weapons even if it is legal, but perhaps more questionable if it’s because of the website’s colors …)
- *exception if the author decides to giveaway his rights (clearly and under contract)

.
OTHER RIGHTS LIMITATIONS
- Actually image rights are very complicated, to the above it is necessary to add:
- competition issues (trademark law, you should not see, read a brand or its logo unless you are in contract with it, for example)
- religion issues, corporations and organizations issues, (no promotion, prior approval or even compulsory supervision for example)
- racial issues (equity)
- individual freedom and image rights (recognizable persons)
- belief issues (sexual orientation etc)
- animal protection, children protection, minorities, etc.
- local laws and regulations, applied by a state or a country (weapons, helmet, European laws, international laws, etc.)
- or politics and culture concerns ( image and ideology of a nation)
- and more
REMINDER (Royalty Tracking)
Note: first of all, you should know that in any case the sites providing videos, photos, clips, gifs, are aware of the use of the photos and videos you’ve downloaded : in the code of each image there is a certain amount of information like the format and type, of course the encoding standard, but also, the origin, the date, and even the camera that was used and the location (and the IP address when downloading). so as long as you use them in accordance with the Terms and Conditions everything is fine

PHOTOS and VIDEOS RIGHTS and LICENSE CONCLUSION
- SUMMARY
- we can share photos, videos, images, clips, gifs, under certain conditions; for example, some sites allow sharing with your friends / family (sharing = no download, no use on site, among others) and by ensuring that the author or the source site is mentioned and unless otherwise provided
- we can use photos, videos, images, clips, gifs, in any type of legal publication, including commercial;
- 1. if you own the rights, ie if you have purchased a subscription or a set of images with their rights,
- 2. if you’re the author,
- 3. or if they are free: compliance with the conditions and notices required by creative commons, and with the copyright laws applicable in the circumstances and the use you make of them.
- CONCLUSION
- So if we use photos, videos, it is much better to read carefully to select the site that gives you the rights and limitations you can cope with, or go through sites like GIFING.COM which make their own videos and grant you full rights (unlike other sites which buy them from other photographers). unless you are perfectly sure of what you are doing about licenses and copyright and you are the author which can be cool but time consuming see more on their website: →WEBSITE DIRECT ACCES←

the VIDEO LICENCES and PHOTO LICENCES or VIDEO COPYRIGHTS and PHOTO COPYRIGHTS are complex, when we says ROYALTY FREE or CREATIVE COMMONS (CC0), or COPYLEFT, it sounds like it’s FREE OF RIGHTS, but VIDEO RIGHTS, PHOTO RIGHTS, depends on their use (COMMERCIAL USE), and where to use them (YOUTUBE STANDARD LICENCE), and the location and time. so read carefully the Terms and Conditions, Use Premium ressources, and professionals websites .
